History of Incentives

Incentives and Incentive Ranch, Inc. was founded by Duan Hanks in response to the need for high quality treatment services for adolescents.  Mr. Hanks began working with youth while playing football for the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. He received a Bachelor of Science in Social Work in 1987 from Stephen F. Austin State University. He is a Certified Alcohol Drug Abuse Counselor (CADAC), a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and a Licensed Child Care Administrator (LCCA).  He has over 13 years of direct experience in adolescent treatment and program development.

Mr. Hanks brings a thorough knowledge and understanding of adolescent drug and alcohol treatment to the Incentives program. Mr. Hank's vision for Incentives and Incentive Ranch, Inc. is to dramatically improve the quality of life for drug and alcohol abusing adolescents, teach them the skills they need to remain drug and alcohol free and foster their development into productive adult members of the community.

Who Are We?

Incentives is a Texas State Chartered for-profit and non-profit corporation formed in September 1992.  The program is operated exclusively for the purpose of treating individuals with primary and dual diagnosis of alcohol and/or chemical dependency and other psychiatric disorders. Incentives is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

What is our Mission?

Incentives’ mission is to provide high quality, effective, research-based chemical dependency treatment and mental health services to adolescents and their families.  Our goals are to empower clients to become productive members of society and to foster the healthy development of their family systems.  We believe that treatment should be effective and affordable, whether in a residential, day treatment or outpatient setting.  We strive to create and maintain a healthy and secure environment that encourages our clients to achieve their treatment goals.

What is our Philosophy?

We believe that numerous social, political, and environmental factors have weakened the social services network that helps support our children.  This has left many children in abusive and neglectful situations that foster juvenile delinquency.  We believe in a positive incentives-based approach to treatment utilizing the best research-orientated treatment models available.  It is our belief that every child, regardless of race, creed, religion or personal beliefs, deserves a chance to live and grow in a healthy environment, develop strong life skills and have an opportunity to become productive adults in mainstream society.
