Treatment and Curriculum

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Substance Abuse

A therapeutic approach that changes clients’ thinking and beliefs about drug and alcohol use by teaching them to recognize the negative consequences of use.  Clients then learn to identify situations in their lives that place them at high risk for drug and alcohol use and develop skills for coping with these high-risk situations.

Community Reinforcement Approach

A therapeutic approach that changes the clients’ environment by increasing positive reinforcements to sobriety and alternative activities to drug and alcohol use in clients’ lives.

Motivational Enhancement Therapy

A client centered therapeutic approach that utilizes motivational interviewing and reflective listening techniques to encourage clients to come to the realization of the need to change their substance abuse behaviors.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anger Management

A therapeutic approach that changes clients’ thinking and beliefs by teaching them to recognize situations in their lives that place them at-risk for anger or violence.  Clients then learn relaxation, cognitive and communication interventions for responding to the high-risk situations.

Disease Model/12 Step Recovery

Clients are taught the disease model of drug and alcohol addiction and are introduced to AA/NA/CA 12 step support groups, which meet weekly at Incentives’ facility.  Clients are encouraged to connect with local 12 step recovery programs after completion of residential treatment.
